He always does a phone interview first and then if he likes what he hears, he interviews them face-to-face. My client is an IT staffing firm and they are used to hiring salespeople and recruiters and have been for 20 years. He really knows what he\u2019s doing, and he\u2019s a very reasonable guy,<\/p>\n<p>He has been looking for recruiters for at least six months and really needs to hire somebody\u2026yesterday! So, he was anxious to speak with her because she had some really solid experience and really looked good on paper.<\/p>\n<p>He interviewed her and reported back that she didn\u2019t do very well at all. Some of the highlights of her interview were:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Failed to be Prepared<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>She didn\u2019t have her resume in front of her when she interviewed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>Did not Review Resume prior to Interview<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>She got her dates mixed up about\u00a0 when and where she was at different years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>No Specific Examples of Success<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>She kept saying that she was a \u201chard worker\u201d but could never give exact, specific instances or a track record of where she was a \u201chard worker\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>Unable to Explain Previous Job Departures<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>She was vague about why she left\u00a0two of her jobs and gave the reason of \u201ctoxic environment\u201d (without being specific about what that meant).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Obviously, my candidate did not get hired.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s so crazy about this is that my candidate has been a recruiter for 10 years. You would think that she knows how to interview, answer questions, and understand the importance of having her resume in front of her when interviewing.<\/p>\n<p>Moral of the story, take the time to <strong>prepare<\/strong> prior to interviewing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My client wanted to interview my candidate.
