{"id":3249,"date":"2022-03-13T20:11:28","date_gmt":"2022-03-14T01:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tonybeshara.com\/blog\/?p=3249"},"modified":"2022-03-29T16:18:31","modified_gmt":"2022-03-29T21:18:31","slug":"a-sign-of-the-times-and-a-message-to-hiring-authorities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tonybeshara.com\/blog\/a-sign-of-the-times-and-a-message-to-hiring-authorities\/","title":{"rendered":"Sign of the Times &#038; A Message to Hiring Authorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had a candidate referred to us who was exceptional.\u00a0 Her personality was charming; she had a good employment history and was seeking quick employment.\u00a0 With such great character traits, she already scheduled five interviews in four days.\u00a0 It was clear that she was going to find employment fast.<\/p>\n<p>We contacted three of our clients and explained to them what a great candidate she was, hoping to set up interviews immediately.\u00a0 First client, who had been seeking an employee for over a month, was unable to interview due to spring break.\u00a0 Second client agreed to interview her but it required a multiple stage interview process with 3-4 people, thus a week long progression. The third client interviewed her via\u00a0Zoom\u00a0on a Thursday, followed by two Zoom interviews that Friday morning and later offered her a job that afternoon.\u00a0 She started the following Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>We don&#8217;t write the rules of the market.\u00a0 We simply live with them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we tell clients they need to hurry because the market is crazy, almost as bad as 1999, they think it is \u201crecruiter speech.&#8221;\u00a0 Client one was downright upset with us for not delaying the candidate, nearly a week, until hiring authorities returned.<\/p>\n<p>Again, we do not write the rules. This was a mid-level management job and our client had been looking for some time but failed to learn the lesson of urgency.<\/p>\n<p>Frequently hiring organizations drag the hiring process out\u00a0to avoid making a mistake.\u00a0 They are under the illusion that a multiple stage interview process with 3-4 people will alleviate hiring errors.
