{"id":2879,"date":"2020-11-17T11:14:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-17T16:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tonybeshara.com\/blog\/?p=2879"},"modified":"2020-11-17T15:16:15","modified_gmt":"2020-11-17T20:16:15","slug":"why-do-people-do-these-things","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tonybeshara.com\/blog\/why-do-people-do-these-things\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8230;&#8230;why do people do these things?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>leave a phone number and the voicemail is full<\/li>\n<li>leave a phone number and the message says, &#8220;this number cannot take any messages\u2026 try again later&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t put a phone number on their resume (\u2026 and then wonder why they are not getting calls)<\/li>\n<li>put their phone number at the bottom of the resume<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t realizing that anyone looking at the resume is looking at 150 others and if they don&#8217;t see a way of reaching them&#8230;immediately&#8230;. they call someone else<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t respond to an email or voicemail immediately from a prospective employer<\/li>\n<li>have &#8220;Google voice&#8221; answer their phone requiring the caller to identify themselves&#8230;.and not being able to do it<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t remember at all who they sent their resume to so that when someone calls them they have no idea who it might be (how bright does that appear?)<\/li>\n<li>having a cockamamie email address that is not easy to use<\/li>\n<li>have resumes that don&#8217;t tell what their company does, what they did and how well they did it (realizing that if an employer can&#8217;t detect what the person does in 10 to 15 seconds, they&#8217;ll move on to the next interview)<\/li>\n<li>lie &#8230;once, twice, three times or more on their resume<\/li>\n<li>have their LinkedIn profile and resume mismatched<\/li>\n<li>have unprepared references<\/li>\n<li>can&#8217;t find their references<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t have any references<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Employers and interviewing authorities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>who never let candidates know how or where they stand<\/li>\n<li>who publish job opportunities that they never really intend to fill<\/li>\n<li>whose advertisement becomes a &#8220;black hole&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>who advertise that the candidate needs to have &#8220;good written and verbal communications skills&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>who tell you they are strongly considering you and then never call you<\/li>\n<li>who hire people they &#8216;like&#8217; over people who are most qualified<\/li>\n<li>who rely on a resume instead of interviewing to determine the quality of a candidate\u2019s ability to do the job<\/li>\n<li>who keep postponing a hiring decision because they are &#8220;afraid of making a mistake&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>who are inconsistent in their interviewing process<\/li>\n<li>who believe that the only &#8220;good&#8221; candidates are the ones they know<\/li>\n<li>who interview out of &#8220;fear of loss&#8221; rather than &#8220;vision of gain&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>who focus more on &#8220;why they shouldn&#8217;t hire you&#8221; rather than on &#8220;why they should hire you&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>who don&#8217;t tell you where you stand as a candidate relative to others<\/li>\n<li>who simply blow you off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; leave a phone number and the voicemail is full [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>......why do people do these things?
