{"id":1381,"date":"2014-07-11T21:22:18","date_gmt":"2014-07-12T02:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tonybeshara.com\/blog\/?p=1381"},"modified":"2014-07-14T10:49:21","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T15:49:21","slug":"teaching-folks-how-to-get-a-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tonybeshara.com\/blog\/teaching-folks-how-to-get-a-job\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8230;Teaching folks how to get a job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m firmly convinced that the majority of people that are out of work and <strong>c<em>laim <\/em><\/strong>they are looking for a job really aren&#8217;t\u2026 When you look on the Internet about &#8220;how to find a job,&#8221; 90% of the stuff you see talks about how to craft a resume and how to send a resume to a company\u2026Sending a resume is\u00a0<strong>NOT\u00a0<\/strong>Looking for a job\u2026 It just isn&#8217;t\u2026 On top of the entitlement attitude of &#8220;where&#8217;s my job?&#8230;can you email it to me?&#8221; People really don&#8217;t do all of the things they need to do to get a job\u2026 To get a job, <strong>y<\/strong><strong>ou gotta get interviews<\/strong>\u2026 Face-to-face interviews\u2026 those are absolutely the only things that matter\u2026 and then you have to do a lot of it\u2026 It&#8217;s gonna take, on average, 16 interviews to get a job offer\u2026 even if you don&#8217;t like that job offer\u2026 In the last blog post I wrote, I explained how many calls and how many presentations of yourself it&#8217;s going to take to get one person that might listen to you and how many of those it&#8217;s going to take in order to get somebody interested in you and how many of those it&#8217;s going to take to get somebody to interview you\u2026 I can&#8217;t change the stats\u2026 your effort to get interviews is going to take one hell of a lot of work\u2026 And then you have to sell yourself, really, really hard\u2026 most people just plain don&#8217;t interview very well\u2026 they don&#8217;t sell themselves\u2026 they say stupid stuff\u2026 they don&#8217;t ask for feedback\u2026 they don&#8217;t ask for the job\u2026 so they don&#8217;t get hired\u2026 60% of the people who were hired are hired through personal contacts\u2026 relatives, friends, acquaintances, present and previous peers\u2026 Everyone knows at least 200 people\u2026 Remember there are 7.4 million business establishments in the United States with an average of 15.4 people working in them\u2026 and every one of them needs help\u2026 <em><strong>every one of them!\u2026<\/strong> <\/em>If one person made an offer to one business that they could show that business how to make them more money or save them more money and really did it, \u00a07.4 million people could go to work tomorrow\u2026<strong> Pretty simple!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m firmly convinced that the majority of people that are [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[6],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.2 -
